A large and slow-flying butterfly native to the Moluccas. The Idea genus are known as Tree Nymph butterflies, ostensibly because of the manner of their flight below the forest canopy.
This was not a particularly successful shot, but it is the only one that I have of this species. I had to use flash as the weight of the butterfly was causing the plant to sway, but my poor little flashgun had to take its reading from the white wings, so the black areas have no detail.
Canon AE1, 50 mm macro, Vivitar 255 flashgun hand-held.
