The lights of Picadilly Circus in central London had always attracted me, but I could never get a picture that really showed how I felt about the hustle and bustle going on below the neon lightshow.
I made several attempts to capture the scene using slow shutter speeds and/or moving the camera during exposure. Most were failures but some did work for me, and of those this is my favourite. I think I like it because the neon "Skol" advert is still readable, which stops the picture from being just swirling streaks of light.
I went back a couple of years ago. It was a disappointment. The neon billboards seemed much smaller and less attractive, and the crowds were more hostile. Who was it who said "you can never go back..."?
