2003: "Studio" photography

After the mostly barren year that was 2002, I decided to jump-start my photography again with a move to 'digital'. I had always said that I would make this move when I was confident that digital cameras could match the print quality that I could achieve from 35mm slides. With the launch of the full-frame Canon EOS 1Ds in late 2002 it became apparent that the moment had arrived. I think that these photographs, all taken with the 1Ds, stand up very well against their equivalent from two or three years ago.

The 1Ds was an expensive purchase - far more than I had ever expected to spend on one piece of equipment - but I do not regret buying it in the least. It is a superb camera, producing very high quality results that in my opinion far exceed the quality that I was achieving from scanning 35mm slides.
